Central Mums seeks to find the best child and family friendly spots on the Coast, by bringing you a short review of the places we find. This week, we checked out the new playground recently opened up in Memorial Park at The Entrance.
The Entrance always provides plenty of family fun, whether you head to the beach, the ocean pool, one of the many family friendly eateries or a play at one of the parks. If you haven't already, check out our Meet My Suburb article for more information about The Entrance.
The new playground at Memorial Park
There are several fantastic playgrounds at The Entrance so kids are spoilt for choice. We headed to the newly opened playground at Memorial Park to give it our review. At this playground, you'll find a fully fenced area with a climbing frame, slide, huge swing and small ride on bouncers.
The climbing frame has either stairs to climb or a net ladder and then a double slippery dip to race down against a friend! Underneath the climbing frame, younger children can have fun playing in the "shop" or crawling through the tunnel.
Several children can fit on the large, round swing for some flying fun and little children will enjoy riding on the bouncer rides. There are also some large musical instruments to play.
This new playground got our seal of approval, however we'd recommend wearing hats and sunscreen on warm days as there is currently no shade over the playground area.
Just short stroll from this playground through the park is where you'll find a toilet block, the visitors centre, electric BBQs and picnic benches. Another added bonus about this playground is that it is not far at all from the other two great playgrounds at The Entrance: Vera's Water Garden and the also recently refurbished playground on the foreshore.
One of the spider webs to climb over on the foreshore playground
Older children will love the foreshore playground, with a huge area to run around, big netted spider webs to climb and the built in hills to climb and slide down the other side. There are also small, in ground trampolines to jump on, however these were currently being refurbished when we were there. Please note, this playground is not fenced so keep an eye on younger children.
Vera's Water Garden makes for a wonderful place for children to cool off during the hot summer months. Be sure to bring a towel and a spare change of clothes!
