Calling all young pirates! A new ship has arrived and is ready to climb aboard!
Exciting news for local kids (and parents!) who enjoy playing at the Rotary Park in Terrigal. The old playground has been taken down and in its place is a brand new exciting play space.
The first part of the playground is a natural play space in the form of a pirate ship. Calling all young pirates – it's time to jump aboard, walk the plank and climb the rigging on this unique and fun play area.
The pirate ship is made of entirely natural resources, including tree stumps, wood, rocks and rope. Kids will love balancing across the rope whilst pretending there are sharks below, keeping watch through the peepholes or having a go at sailing the ship with the steering wheel.
Whilst we were there checking out the pirate ship, we were lucky enough to have a chat with one of the council workers on site and have a look at the plans for the rest of the playground and it sounds very exciting. There's to be a flying fox as well as different play and climbing structures suitable for a broad age range, including younger kids, plus new picnic benches and a BBQ area. We're keeping everything crossed it will be ready and open for Christmas!
Keep track of its progress via the
Central Coast Council Facebook page and stay tuned for another article from us once the finished playground is open and ready for action! In the meantime, if you're nearby, be sure check out the pirate ship.
