Finding childcare for five weeks of school holidays is tough for all working parents but fortunately there are lots of Central Coast school holidays sports camps and clinics for kids of all ages to keep them occupied.

If your kids have never done a certain sport before, school holiday programs can also be a great way for them to be introduced to the sport and improve their skills before commencing the sport in the school year.

Swimming

2nd January: Supercharged School Holiday Swimming at Mingara Aquatics.

Mingara Aquatics is holding Aquatics Intensive Programs starting on the 3rd right up until the 20th for kids that are still learning and kids with more advanced skills. Prices start at $65 per week. Call on 4349 7821 or visit the centre to book your child in.

3rd January: 5 Star Swim Schools Holiday Swim Classes

Also starting on the 3rd January, kids can attend week long swimming programs during January for $75 per week, catering to kids of all different skill levels, at Kincumber, Erina or Wyoming. Call 4368 2422 to make a booking.

3rd January: School Holiday Intensive Programs at Toukley Aquatic Centre

These are being held throughout January, starting on the 3rd. Call the centre on 4396 5373 to make a booking for the program that best suits your child’s age and swimming skill level.

21st January: Learn To Swim Assessment Day at Mingara Aquatics

If you want your child to start swimming in lessons in 2017 but aren’t sure what they’re capable of, Mingara’s Swim Assessment Day will help teachers to determine what class they should be in and their confidence in the water. Be at the centre between 10am and 1pm to get your free assessment.

Soccer

3rd-12th January: Grasshopper Soccer Sessions

Attend of the Grasshopper Soccer Central Coast’s School Holiday Fun Day sessions at Auston Oval from the 3rd to the 12th January from 9am to 12pm. For more information or to book call 0438 207 103.

16th & 17th January: Central Coast Mariners Newcastle Permanent School Holiday Clinics (Unisex)

Central Coast Mariners club legend Adam Kwasnik and experienced Central Coast Mariners players and coaching staff are holding clinics at the Central Coast Mariners Centre of Excellence in Tuggerah for boys and girls aged 5 to 12 years old. Kids don’t need to have played soccer previously to participate. You can book in for one or both days from 9:30am to 12:30pm. The kids will also have the chance to meet the Mariners team in a signing session and have a group photo with the squad. It’s $65 for 1 day or $115 for both days and Mariners members get 10% off this price.

Gymnastics

9th-25th January: Gymnastics at PCYC Umina

Send younger kids along to one of the Gym Fun Workshops at the PCYC on the 9th, 10th, 16th, 17th, 23rd or 24th January (there are morning and afternoon sessions, depending on the day) for just $10 for the two hour session. There are also Teen Gym Sessions on the 11th, 18th and 25th January. You can book a booking by calling the centre on 4344 7851.

Cheerleading/Dance

9th-27th January: Central All Stars Cheerleading Holiday Workshops

These workshops are divided into classes for four to seven year olds, and eight years and up, focusing on stunts, dance and tumbling. It’s $15 for the one hour classes and $20 for the 1.5 hour classes. You can sign up for any of the five workshops being held on the 9th, 13th, 24th, 25th or 27th January at Niagara Park Stadium. 20th Jan: Sydney Roosters Move & Groove Camp

Taught by a Sydney Rooster cheerleader, this workshop is a full day class focusing on cheer, hip hop and jazz moves, in a choreographed dance routine the students will perform for their parents at the end of the day. Camp attendees will also get the chance to go behind the scenes at Central Coast Stadium. It’s $65 and runs from 10am to 3pm at Central Coast Stadium in Gosford.

Tennis

9th-11th January: Tennis Wyong - Three Day Program

Taking place over three days from 9:30am to 11:30am at Wyong Tennis Club, this tennis clinic covers all aspects of the game so kids can attend even if they’ve never played before. It’s open to kids from age five to sixteen and is run by experienced coaches from the International Football and Tennis School. It costs $130 for the three days. Call 13 13 02 to make a booking.

Surf Life Saving

16th January: Surf Life Saving Program - ages 8-13

This is an educational program being held at Toowoon Bay Beach on the 16th January teaching essential water safety skills, which are crucial for Central Coast kids who spend a lot of time at the beach. It’s only $20 for the four hour workshop, starting at 9:30am and finishing at 1:30pm. Call 13 13 02 to make a booking.

Surfing

Held in the morning from 8am to 9:30am or in the afternnon from 2pm to 3:30pm, a surfing workshop is a good way to educate kids who are at a beginner or intermediate level about how to stay safe in the water. They’ll learn about rips, currents and reading the waves and get hands-on training in how to mount and dismount, paddle and turn. Boards and rash shirts are provided. Times and locations may change to suit surf conditions. It’s recommended parents attend the first lesson to meet the instructor. It costs $95 for every session. Call 13 13 02 to make a booking.

4th-6th January: Surfing Shelly Beach - ages 10 to 16

16th-18th January: Surfing Terrigal Beach - ages 10 to 16

18th-20th January: Surfing Umina Beach - ages 7 to 16

18th-20th January: Surfing Avoca Beach - ages 7 to 16
There’s also a second one being held at Avoca from the 25th to the 27th January .

Canoeing/Kayaking

16th January: Canoe/Kayaking - ages 10 to 16

Kids can spend the morning being guided down Avoca Lake in a canoe or kayak for just $33 from 10am to 12:30pm. Call 13 13 02 to make a booking. Kids must be able to swim at least 50 metres to be able to attend.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding

17th January: Stand Up Paddle Boarding - ages 11 to 16

This is a lesson that would be ideal for kids who have never done stand up paddle boarding before. They’ll learn on Avoca Lake from 10am to 12:30pm. Cost is $33 per person. Call 13 13 02 to make a booking.

Sailing

18th-20th January: Sailing – Entry To Level One - ages 7 to 16

This three day camp gives budding sailors the chance to really get into the swing of sailing. Taught by Yachting Australia instructors on dinghies at Gosford Sailing Club, it costs $195, and is held from 9:30am to 3:30pm each day. Call 13 13 02 to make a booking. Kids must be able to swim at least 50 metres to be able to attend.

Archery

19th January: Archery (Indoor) AM - ages 8 to 15

Your child could learn to be the next Katniss Everdeen at this short archery clinic at Gosford Showground from 10am to 12:30pm. Kids will learn how to how to hold the bow and arrow, how to line up a shot and how to score, for just $20. Call 13 13 02 to make a booking.

Netball

23rd-25th January: Netball 4 Life 3-Day School Holiday Super Clinic

Get ready for netball season with the Netball 4 Life’s three day clinic at Baker Park, Wyong. The daily program involves a warm-up, general ball and footwork skills, basic attacking and defending skills, modified games, match play, and a cool down, starting at 9am and finishing up at 12:30pm. It costs $99 for one child to attend, and then discounts are applied for other children from the same family who are also attending. You need to book in to attend. Book online or call 0407 415 969.

Rugby League (Unisex)

20th January: Tunnel, Turf & Try Camp

This all day football camp is open to both boys and girls, with plenty of games and activities planned. Camp attendees will also get the chance to go behind the scenes at Central Coast Stadium and meet some of the Roosters players. It costs $65 and runs from 10am to 3pm at Central Coast Stadium in Gosford.

General Fitness Camps

16th-20th January: PLC Kids Fitness Camp

Held at Peninsular Leisure Centre in Woy Woy, these two hour morning camps are being held over four days for kids aged three to ten years old from 9:30am to 11:30am. Kids will play a variety of sports and games so they stay active and have fun during the school holidays. It costs $49.50 to register. Call 4325 8123 for more information or to make a booking.
