Get ready for the Logjam, where more than 100 surfers from all over California will gather to prove that age is just a number when it comes to longboarding. From pint-sized groms of seven to wise wave wranglers in their sixties, this event is a celebration of classic surfing culture. Imagine a gang of surf-savvy legends riding vintage "logs"—those charming surfboards from before 1970 that weigh about as much as a small car and have about the same aerodynamic properties. No leashes allowed, so if you wipe out, you'll either have to swim for it or start a new trend of graceful board retrieval.
Mark your calendars for April 26 at 7:00 a.m. to April 27 at 7:00 p.m. Get cozy at East Cliff Drive and 33rd Avenue in Santa Cruz, where the waves and the vibes are bound to be delicious. Expect a bit of nostalgia mixed with some serious wave riding skills that will have you wondering if you, too, should take up longboarding—right after you learn to keep your lunch down while doing it. Grab a spot on the beach and prepare for a weekend full of stoke, surf camaraderie, and some epic wipeouts that are sure to give everyone a good laugh.
