On April 26, head over to Santa Cruz for a fun dive into the world of coiled basketry—because who wouldn't want to add "basket weaving" to their skill set? This ancient craft, favoured by Indigenous cultures everywhere, is famous for its incredible charm and intricate designs. California takes the crown for some of the most mind-blowing basketry you'll ever see, so why not jump into this two-hour workshop and get your hands all sorts of crafty?

You'll be weaving with good old Ponderosa Pine needles, learning the ropes—or should I say, the coils—of this time-honoured technique while soaking up some cultural knowledge along the way. Don't worry if you've never touched a needle in your life; this class is as welcoming as a friendly koala. Just keep in mind that it's not really designed for little ones under 12, so maybe leave the kiddos at home unless they're keen to master basketry too. All the gear you need will be ready and waiting, so just bring your sense of adventure and maybe a snack to keep your energy up.
