Just over an hour’s drive from Gosford, this is the best Christmas lights display in Australia. There’s lots of different scenes set up around the gardens including the North Pole, Cinderella’s Castle and even an underwater scene, with checkpoints to be found along the way with the Explorer Passport. There are also displays set up for world landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and Sydney Harbour, among others. Kids can also explore Santa’s Workshop, and write a letter or have their photo taken with Santa and his elves. It’s open from now until the 26th January (except Christmas Day) although Santa will only be there until Christmas Eve. You’ll need to pay the garden entry fees and additional costs are involved for Santa photos.
Santa arrives at 10am at the McDonalds entrance of the food court and there will be a parade through the shopping centre with Mrs Claus, Rudolph, friends, elves, a marching band and even a fairy godmother. At 11am there will be a 12 Days of Christmas Live Show in Centre Court and then Santa photos will start shortly afterwards. There will also be rides, jumping castles and other kids entertainment.
Head down to Mann St in Gosford by 11am for the annual iconic Christmas parade, featuring Santa of course, and other characters on floats. There will also be rides, food stalls and kids activities in Kibble Park throughout the day. This event has been happening in Gosford since the 1950’s and there’s something different to see every year.
Santa will be arriving by fire engine at 10am before paading around the square with with a Marching Band, Mrs Claus, the Little Elves, and even the Gingerbread Man. The Very Merry Christmas Show will follow at 11am.
Kids can have breakfast with Santa and watch a White Christmas themed show for just $5 per child (with money from this event being donated to Coast Shelter), starting at 9am. There are only 100 places available so book soon. All tickets include a gift from Santa.
Combine your Christmas shopping with some fun for the kids on Super Saturday, with face painting, reindeer craft activity and roller skating in the Christmas bauble happening in the centre on this day.
The Entrance also has their own Christmas tree lighting on this day in Memorial Park. From 4:30pm there will be free children’s activities and an interactive snow globe display. After the tree is lit up there will also be a lights and snow queen dance show.
This event is being held to raise money for children with special needs and disabilities. Entry is only $10 and includes access to all activities such as carnival and pony rides, face painting, magic show, a character parade, a visit from Santa and cupcake decorating, from 11am to 3pm.
Held by the waterfront, mums and dads can browse stalls from local vendors, while young children enjoy face painting, a puppet show and play lawn games in the Circus Zone, and older kids can try the mini jeeps. Santa will be there too for photos and entry is free.
This event is a market, festival and Christmas carol singalong all in one, starting at 4pm and finishing at 8pm. There will be a sausage sizzle before the carols start and a jumping castle for the kids to burn energy.
Empire Bay Tavern is hosting a Christmas party for kids with a jumping castle, balloon twisting, face painting and Santa will be dropping in with one of his elves. It starts at 2pm and finishes at 6pm.
Held in Wyong Town Park starting at 5.30pm, families can sit and watch perfomances by the Wyong Musical Theatre Company as well as fireworks later in the evening. There will also be a Rotary sausage sizzle and market stalls, and of course an appearance from Santa. Please note this is an alcohol-free event.
Enjoy a picnic lunch and listening to Christmas carols outside the sun starting at 10am, while the kids play on the obstacle course that will be set up and wait for Santa to arrive at 11am. Entry is free.
5th December: Terrigal Community Carols
Enjoy carols with a view at the Terrigal Community Carols on the beachfront, starting at 6:30pm. It's a free event with carols being sung by the school choir from Star of the Sea.
Held over five nights from 6:30 to 9:30pm, there will be Christmas lights and lots of family entertainment such as a jumping castle, face painting and Santa visits. The Gosford Musical Society will also perform Christmas Carols from 7:00 to 7:30pm every night. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids.
On the 11th December, there will also be carols, with the Jitterbugs and and children’s entertainer Jay Laga’aia both set to perform, rides and fireworks. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids with money raised being donated to Cancer Council NSW.
Just in case you missed the Christmas tree lightings at Gosford and The Entrance, Toukley Village Green is also hosting a free event with carols, local dance performances, an appearance from Santa and fireworks at 8:30pm.
Santa and his elves will be visiting McDonalds Wyong on these days, and kids can meet him, do some Christmas craft and have dinner for a fee of $18.95. There are two sessions being held on both days for 2 hours, the first at 3:30pm and the second at 6pm. Bookings are essential so call Party Quest on 0433 527 024 to ensure you get a spot. If you miss out on these days, there will also be sessions on the 17th and 18th December.
Families are welcome to bring a picnic basket and blanket to watch the performances, or they can eat there as there will be a sausage sizzle and a cake stall. The event starts at 6pm but the gates open at 5pm so you can get in early and find a spot. Fireworks will held at 8:45 before the event finishes at 9pm.
There's entertainment planned for three hours straight from 11am to 2pm at this party, with a disco, a chance to get up close with baby crocodiles, face painting and a drop in from Santa. It costs $10 per child or $30 for a family to reserve a spot, but the money is refundable on the day. Children will also be able to have a hot dog and chips for lunch and unlimited drinks.
Held at Mingara Regional Athletics Centre, the gates open at 4:30pm, the Carols and entertainment such as rides start at 5:30 and fireworks conclude the event at 9:15. The pups from Paw Patrol will also be making a special appearance with Santa. You can purchase tickets at the welcome desk at the club or at the gate on the day.
This free family event will have rides, a petting zoo, face painting, activities, food stalls, and Christmas entertainment that includes a visit from Santa and Christmas Carols, starting at 6pm, plus a massive fireworks display from the roof of the Imperial Centre at 9pm.
19th December: The Magical Christmas Tree Show
The Magical Christmas Tree is a live interactive musical show starring Santa and Rudolph, being held at 2pm at the club. It’s free for Starfish Kids Club members but there are also a limited number of tickets available to purchase for non-members. The doors open at 1:30pm. Call 4343 0111 to make a booking.
Have a very merry time with The Jitterbugs, Santa with his helpers, and the Jitterbugs Ballerina Fairy Princess at the Everglades Country Club. The shows starts at 11am and finishes at 1pm. Tickets are $10 per person and children can take photos and meet Santa and his helpers after the show.
The monthly kids disco at The Playhouse is all about Christmas with a visit from Santa and a christmas present wrapping contest. It’s $10 for kids aged 4 to 12 to attend from 6 to 9pm. Call the club on 4349 7799 to make a booking.
23rd December: Kids Christmas Party at Hardys Bay Club
The Hardys Bay Club is a great family friendly place to eat out with kids and their Christmas party is just as relaxed and fun. Kids can play on the jumping castle or in the playground while mum and dad have drinks, and even pets are welcome in the garden area. The bistro will be open early from 5.30pm for dinner.
There will be music, face painting, games and prizes, a visit from Santa and of course dancing at Kidz HQ's special Christmas disco.
It starts at 6pm and goes for three hours. Early bird tickets are just $6 and must be be paid for and picked up before the day. Otherwise it's $8.50 for kids aged three and under or $12.50 for kids four and older.
Shelly Beach is hosting their annual Christmas Eve concert again this year, starting at 5pm. Besides the carols, there will also be rides, a BBQ, face painting and food stalls. Entry is free but kids rides passes cost $10 and all money raised is being donated to the PCYC at Bateau Bay.
